Pediments
Decorative door pediments are an architectural feature designed to sit on top of the architrave on the sides of the door opening, adding extra detail and elegance to your property. They are usually much larger than the architrave to make then stand out and be noticeable. They are commonly used in more decorative homes with a Victorian, Edwardian style. Overdoor pediments work really well with wall panelling and coving to be in keeping with the style of the property.

Choosing the right Door Pediment
Our door pediments are three distinct styles, ornate sculpted pediment, linear with dentil features and a more simple plain linear profile.
When choosing the right profile, we would recommend looking at the rest of the interior in the room and if it is ornate with lots of sculpted detail then choose the Pediment 7. If your interior is more simple and linear then the other pediments would work best for you.
We have options which either have pre-mitred ends meaning that you don`t need to worry about doing any cutting onsite, they can be cut in the middle to reduce the width. Otherwise, if you have a larger doorway then you can purchase our longer lengths but without the pre-mitred ends. The pre-mitred and non pre-mitred pediments will both match exactly if butted up with each other.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a decorative door pediment?
A decorative door pediment is the bit which goes above the door on a door opening and is a perfect way of adding architectural detail enhancing the appearance of doors making them feel larger.
What are the made from?
Our door pediments are made from a high-grade polymer called polyurethane which is durable shock resistant. Lightweight easy to install and supplied pre-primed. The finish is much more crisp and professional than timber and plaster pediments.
Are they suitable for modern homes?
Yes certainly, if you choose the linear style then this is perfect for modern homes and will make your doorways look more grand without being overpowering.
What is the Keystone used for?
Our Keystone for the pediments is designed to fit over the top of our pediments (except from the sculpted pediment 7) on the front face. This is perfect for adding extra detail and also serves a purpose of coving up the join in the middle.
Do I need to paint them?
Even though the pre-primed surface looks perfect, we recommend painting the profiles with one coat of water-based paint to stop any discolouration of the profiles.
