Skirting boards became popular during the Victorian era, although they were present in the Georgian era and earlier. Their function was to provide protection against knocks and bumps, reduce draughts and tidy up any rough edges to the wall plastering. These functional properties are still important today. Just as important though is their decorative potential.

Most of our profiles are hollow on the reverse, and so have plenty of room to hide wiring behind them, should you wish to.

Flexible Options For Bay Windows And Curved Walls.

Many profiles have a sister product made from flexible polyurethane. This material can bend to most curved walls, including bays, and is manufactured to match exactly it’s standard sister product.

Can these skirting boards be painted?

Yes certainly, most of our skirting boards are pre-primed and ready to paint, no sanding or undercoat required. Some of our skirting boards are pre-finished requiring no painting at all!

Can high-grade polymer skirting boards be joined without seeing the join?

Our skirting can easily be joined using the Fix Ultra Jointing Adhesive and this effectively welds the joins together and provides an ultra strong bond which makes the joins seamless.

Are polymer skirting boards better than MDF?

If you are looking for a skirting board which is lightweight, tough, has a crisp smooth finish, pre-primed no sanding required, easy to install and has a flexible option for piece of mind then yes, polymer skirting boards are better than MDF.

Can I hide wires behind he skirting?

Yes this is a key feature of our skirting as it has a void behind for running wires behind. This is much less disruptive option compared to chasing the walls out or running through walls.

How to choose the right profile?

The height is the key measurement, if you are wanting the skirtings to be a noticeable and attractive feature then taller skirtings are best. Smaller skirtings are great for more subtle or minimalistic effect and low ceilings.
